Gand, local coinage AR maille or petit denier struck c. 1250-1259. The coin is an obverse brockage, formed when a previously struck coin becomes stuck in the reverse die so that the obverse of that coin becomes the reverse die of the new coin, making its reverse a reversed incuse image of the obverse design. Obv: helmeted head left, helmet decorated with three annulets and with a fleur de lis on top, four pellets arranged as a cross behind head. Rev: reversed, incuse strike of the obverse design. Obverse of Ghyssens 465. Weight 0.41 grams, 10 mm. Good Fine or slightly better, the brockage strike very clear and well-centered. $125.
